HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
Almost 12 years. Only when I wrote it down just now did I realise, it's quite a long time!
What's your style?
Mostly documentary with the exception of a few couple portraits if you ask for them and a small amount of close family group shots.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
My kit list has been stripped right back since that first wedding nearly 12 years ago. I shoot with 2 x Canon 5D's and a handful of prime lenses and some flash for the dancing in the evening. Working with minimal gear means I don't require a team of bag carriers and therefore can remain under the radar for the better part of a wedding. This allows me to blend in like a guest and react to situations and moments more freely, meaning more time clicking and less time faffing.
What will you wear at my wedding?
I tend not to wear a suit, but also not about to pitch up in my joggies either. I find a good balance, at least for me, between being smart and being comfortable, is a pair of chinos, a shirt and a nice pair of shoes.
When and how do we receive our images and how many can we expect?
Usually up to 6 weeks after your wedding day, your images will be ready to download straight to your device. I'll email you a download link, and it's pretty instant from there. No postage issues here. I supply a minimum of 300 watermark free, print ready images, fully polished by me in a mix of black and white and colour, along with a social media set of images for sharing and tagging friends.
We're really camera shy, will this be a problem doing couple portraits?
Absolutely not. You're not the first couple to worry about this and I guarantee you won't be the last either. The thought of any of my couples stressing over being photographed really makes me sad. I will never make you feel or look silly, I promise!
I'll arrive at your wedding with no hidden agenda or "must get this shot" lists. I promise I won't throw a smoke grenade at you, or dangle you from a tree, or insert you on top of a fireplace. My couple portrait sessions are short, natural and really fun. If you're so worried you'd rather not have any, that's fine with me too. It's your wedding and I don't want you to have any worries whatsoever over photography.
DO YOU DO GROUP SHOTS?
Yes. Even though my work is 99% documentary, family formals or group shots as they're also called, form an important part of the day. I recommend no more than half a dozen small groups involving grandparents, parents, and siblings and this would take no more than 20 minutes maximum.
Can we meet you before we book?
Yes. Providing timings and logistics allow, I'm happy to meet you. Mostly though, I use email, skype or telephone, since most of my couples don't live near me.
HOW FAR WILL YOU TRAVEL TO ATTEND A WEDDING AND IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL COST FOR THIS?
I'm based in North Yorkshire, and travel throughout the UK each year shooting weddings. For weddings that involve overnight stays, an additional fee may apply for travel and accommodation.
Are you insured?
Yes. Professional indemnity and public liability insurance goes without saying. I also insure my equipment but I'm proud to report I've never lost, dropped or broken any equipment in 10 years.
HOW DO WE BOOK?
Let me know as soon as you want to hire me and I'll email you an online booking form. A £500 booking fee is also required to secure your date.
