Healey Barn Wedding Photography | Roma & David

If you're looking for Healey Barn wedding photography of your own then check out Roma & David's beautiful wedding story.

If you're looking for Healey Barn wedding photography of your own then check out Roma & David's beautiful wedding story. Our day started off overlooking stunning views of the surrounding Hexham countryside.

When I arrived at Roma's parents house I was greeted with warm smiles and an open welcome. Bridal preparations during the morning can often be a frantic affair. Bridesmaid, family and wedding suppliers coming and going. I love the buzz on a wedding morning and probably get just as excited as the bride!

Healey Barn is an eighteenth century barn set within its own private grounds. If you're going for a rustic theme for your wedding then Healey Barn should be one to consider. It's nestled in the heart of the most beautiful Northumberland countryside and only a short drive from the A68 which heads south off the A69 near Corbridge. It's a perfect wedding venue and really comes into its own on long summer days.

Your Healey Barn Wedding Photography

From a wedding photographer's perspective there's lots of  interesting places to photograph inside and out. There's nothing more refreshing than a courtyard full of wedding guests basking in sunshine and sipping pimms all dressed up in their smarts. After the wedding ceremony we did some family photographs using the barn doors as the backdrop.

Well if you're going for a rustic farm wedding then why not? Like many couples who get married at Healey Barn, Roma and David wanted some portraits in the nearby woodland. It's only a short drive down the road, and literally takes less than a minute to get there.

I often get asked being a documentary wedding photographer, if I do couple portraits. The answer is a resounding yes. Along with a few family photographs, I always allow some time for couple portraits. Usually, all that is required is 15-20 minutes. I won't ask you to climb trees or throw smoke grenades at you. Instead, my attitude towards this part of the day is that it's an ideal bit of down time for you guys.

So go for a stroll, have a catch up, enjoy a giggle together and I'll work around you. This was exactly what I did for Roma & David and like hundreds of couples before.

My photographic approach to Healey Barn Wedding Photography

My approach to wedding photography has remained the same for the last 15 years. As a documentary wedding photographer my main job is to observe. I'm not one for taking thousands upon thousands of images in a spray and pray sort of way. Instead, I choose to wait for moments unfolding.

Over the years, I've learned to anticipate certain situations. As a result of this, I tend to watch, wait and just observe. I much prefer candid photography over set up or posed as I feel the photographs are more characterful this way. I want you to enjoy and cherish a set of photographs full of emotion. Images that show you parts of the day you may not remember, that raise a smile, shed a tear or both at the same time!

Doxford Barns Wedding Photography | Helen & Katrina

Helen & Katrina's Doxford Barns Wedding Photography offers a fabulous insight into a day at one of Northumberland's best rustic wedding venues.

Helen & Katrina's Doxford Barns Wedding Photography offers a fabulous insight into a day at one of Northumberland's best rustic wedding venues. Doxford Barns is right up there as one of the favourites amongst wedding photographers. This made for a beautiful setting for what was my first same sex wedding. It seems like an age ago since they booked me. With a few weeks to spare we met up to run through their plans. These two ladies are just amazing, and I loved them both instantly. We had a coffee, talked wedding talk and laughed a lot. What's not to love?

Doxford Barns Rural Barn Conversion in Northumberland

Doxford Barns is off the A1, just north of Alnwick in Northumberland. It's a truly unique award winning wedding barn experience located very near the Northumberland coast. Several tastefully renovated stone built cottages offer the wedding party relaxed and comfortable accommodation with 200 yards of The Great Barn, which is at the heart of the wedding celebrations. All of this is set within a 550 acre country estate. Think rural charm and modern elegance, merge the two and you’ve got a bespoke, rustic and charming wedding venue in Northumberland that is full of character.

Threshing Hall Wedding Ceremony

I spent some time with the girls photographing them getting ready.  We then went to The Cart Shed for pre wedding drinks and nibbles. breaking tradition slightly, Helen & Katrina then went for a quick outfit change, before heading to the eighteenth century Threshing Hall to be married. The rain came down almost immediately after the ceremony, but the girls partied on. Their family and friends were just incredible, allowing me to capture some all important family photographs in a working barn. The evening entertainment was in the capable hands of Hip Hop Hooray, an alternative wedding band with some unbelievable tracks. Thanks to these guys they had everyone up on their feet dancing and hip hopping the night away.

A Barn Wedding in Northumberland at High House Farm Brewery

Nicola & Jeff's barn wedding in Northumberland comes with a health warning. If you dislike hugs, laughter, a lot of love and some more hugs, then this story's probably not for you..

Nicola & Jeff's barn wedding in Northumberland comes with a health warning. If you dislike hugs then this story's probably not for you! If seeing so much love in one place, brightens up your day and leaves you feeling somewhat energised, then this post is most definitely for you.

I've been lucky enough to work at High House Farm Brewery (Now known as High House Barn) on numerous occasions before, but I simply can't get enough of the place. The location, the layout, the staff, everything about High House Farm weddings checks the boxes for me.

Looking for a photographer for your own Barn wedding in Northumberland?

Nicola & Jeff's wedding didn't start in the usual format. Usually I'd photograph in some part, the bridal preps but instead I started around an hour before the ceremony to capture the guests arriving. It was an extremely hot day in early July, about as good as it gets for a barn wedding.

Meeting Jeff and his best man and seeing them together for the first time was an event in itself, talk about a tag team. They would not have looked out of place on a stage, in fact as you'll see from the images, we substituted a stage for a beer barrel at one point. The brief for the day was to  about as laid back as it gets. Minimal couple shots, a few family formals, and other than that, photograph the day as it happens.

Like most of my couple's, Nicola & Jeff weren't big on anything being staged or posed, which is music to my ears..

Are you looking for a Northumberland wedding photographer for your own High House Farm wedding? I've been a recommended photographer at High House Farm for several years now.

This brilliant barn wedding in Northumberland went flawlessly. The wedding breakfast consisted of a hog roast followed by lashings of locally made ice cream.  This was then washed down with High House Farm's own brew. I can't remember photographing so many hugs and moments involving laughter and tears of joy in all my years photographing weddings. The guests were just awesome human beings, I felt like a guest myself with a camera, just a joy to witness so many friends and family coming together.

Nicola & Jeff, you're a pair of stars. Thanks for having me there to capture your story, and for a thoroughly happy and uplifting experience.

Kirknewton House Stables Wedding Photography | Sara & Marcus

Sara & Marcus's Kirknewton House Stables wedding photography was possibly the hottest I'm ever likely to photograph there!

Sara & Marcus's Kirknewton House Stables wedding photography was possibly the hottest I'm ever likely to photograph there! Sara and Marcus, their friends and family flew in from New Zealand for what turned out to be a pretty epic day. They got in touch with me last year and asked me to photograph their Kirknewton House Stables wedding.

Since I'd photographed Sara's cousin's wedding a few years previous I felt blessed to be invited north again. To be able to spend another fun packed wedding with their family meant the world to me. I stayed  close to Peebles in the Scottish Borders. That way, I was reasonably close for the drive north the next morning. The morning drive took approximately 40 minutes and through beautiful Scottish countryside, I headed towards the Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club.

Sara and most of the wedding party chose to stay here the night before as this was where her bridal preparations would take place. I can't ever recall the weather being so warm in Scotland. The temperature read thirty degrees in the car. The weather forecast reported 28 degrees. Based on these figures I settled on twenty nine degrees for the purpose of my story! By 11am my shirt was sticking to me it was so hot!

I'd previously met Sara & Marcus to photograph their eshoot on Blyth Beach in Northumberland. Through this and the times I'd met them previous it was obvious that we made a great team.

The atmosphere at a Kirknewton House Stables wedding is incredibly relaxed.

On the day, it felt like being with old friends. The atmosphere was incredibly laid back, but was executed down to every last detail without a hitch. Rain almost threatened play right before the outdoor ceremony, but Sara was determined to proceed outdoors, and her judgement call was spot on.

From a wedding photographer's point of view, I can only describe the day as a visual feast amongst friends. Are you a couple looking for Kirknewton House Stables photography of your own? Whether you're planning your wedding here or anywhere else within the UK feel free to reach out to me. If you like my photography style and think I may be a good fit then I'd love to hear from you.

If you're looking for a documentary Edinburgh wedding photographer for your Kirknewton House Stables wedding photography or anywhere else throughout Scotland and the UK then why not get in touch to find out if I’m available.
